Pat Ryan, Engagement Director at Treliant, is a senior banking executive with 40 years’ experience at US Bank, Capital One, and FleetBoston Financial. She is an expert in creating and managing robust risk management, compliance, and regulatory policies and procedures, as well as leading business transformation efforts. Her areas of focus have included fair and responsible banking; complaint analysis; Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) reviews; unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices (UDAAP); operational risk management; anti-money laundering/Bank Secrecy Act (AML/BSA); and compliance across a wide array of lending and payments products.

For the past 11 years, Pat has held roles at US Bank including Senior Vice President of its Payments Division; Director of Internal Risk, Legislative Affairs, and Project Management Office; Payments Risk Director of Fair and Responsible Banking, Emerging Issues, and Sales Practices; and Chief Compliance Officer for the card business. Her responsibilities in these roles included managing internal controls functions (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley and regulatory exam management); handling third-party risk management; developing a comprehensive operational control program; and leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective compliance program for consumer and small business credit, debit, and prepaid card products. She also directed US Bank’s response to a consent order with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Previously, Pat was Chief Compliance Officer, Credit Cards at Capital One, leading effective compliance programs for the consumer and small business credit businesses, as well as managing regulatory relationships and exams. Prior to that, Pat held several senior compliance roles at FleetBoston Financial.

Pat has also taught courses on topics including fair lending at the American Bankers Association’s Compliance Schools and BankCard School, as well as previously chairing the ABA Board for the BankCard School and sitting on the board of the ABA Compliance Schools.
