Mike Schuchardt is Senior Managing Director, Risk Management, and a member of Treliant’s Executive Leadership Team. He is a senior financial services executive with a 30-year career as a risk management practitioner and also as a management consultant to Chief Risk Officers in the banking industry.

Prior to joining Treliant, Mike was Head of Risk and Control for MUFG Union Bank in California. He also worked as a risk management consultant for Financial Institutions for almost 20 years with Arthur Andersen and most recently with Protiviti where he was a member of the Financial Services leadership team and led the firm’s Financial Services practice across all solutions in the Western United States.  Prior to his role in the West, Mike ran their credit risk and enterprise risk management practices. In these roles he had both responsibility for, and also advised banks, on safety and soundness matters. He has significant regulatory relations experience with the Federal Reserve, OCC, CFPB, FDIC, SEC, and other state and local regulatory agencies.  This includes state and federal examinations, complaint resolution, and exam management with direct responsibility for resolving matters requiring attention (MRA) and matters requiring immediate attention (MRIA). Mike has worked in the first, second, and third lines of defense throughout his career.

At Treliant, Mike counsels clients on credit risk management, operational risk management, enterprise risk management, sales practices, third-party risk management, capital and liquidity risk management, and product and services risk management. He has a hands-on perspective in the industry, enabling him to provide strategic and practical advice to financial services companies on the challenges they face today.

Mike holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Illinois.
