Mike Scarpa
Managing Director, Regulatory Compliance, Mortgage, and Operations Solutions
Mike Scarpa is a Managing Director in Treliant’s Regulatory Compliance, Mortgage, and Operations Solutions practice. He helps set Treliant’s regulatory compliance/operations agenda, including key trends, solution offerings, and client pursuits. He also executes on regulatory compliance projects and serves as a subject matter expert.
Mike is an expert in financial services regulatory compliance and risk management expectations and has served financial services firms from across the spectrum. He has handled some very difficult and longstanding public enforcement actions for large systemically important banks, foreign banks operating in the U.S., and payment/card network firms.
He has been instrumental in delivering regulatory compliance and risk management engagements to traditional banks, challenger financial institutions, and fintech firms. He also has extensive experience with financial institution licensure, product registration, risk and control design, capital adequacy, recovery, wind-down/resolution planning for non-banking fintech firms, enterprise risk, state and federal banking regulations, third party/vendor risk, recordkeeping and regulatory reporting, board/management reporting, financial crimes compliance, and three-lines-of-defense expectations. Overall, he is considered an expert in safety and soundness matters that affect financial institutions.
Mike has spent 10 years with two different “Big Four” accounting firms in their respective advisory practices, specifically in the areas of financial services risk management and regulatory compliance.
He is a lawyer by training and has been an admitted attorney since 2009. Prior to his advisory consulting experience, he was a practicing attorney in tax litigation and eventually became in-house regulatory counsel for an institutional broker-dealer.
Mike is a cum laude graduate of Hofstra Law School and is admitted to the bar in New York both at the state and federal level. Before law school, he graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Economic Policy and Management.
