Samantha Bird, Senior Corporate Counsel and Deputy Chief Compliance Officer with Treliant, is skilled in contract review, legal research and writing, investigations, and negotiations.
Prior to joining Treliant, Samantha worked as Corporate Counsel for a large defense contractor. She supported the Office of the General Counsel on government contract claims, labor and employment matters, ethics and compliance investigations, and corporate governance. In addition, she drafted legal memoranda on international and domestic matters, conducted internal ethics investigations, drafted claims and appeals on government contracts in accordance with the Contract Disputes Act and the Federal Acquisition Regulation, provided litigation support, ensured Securities and Exchange Commission compliance, and negotiated and mediated employment matters on behalf of the company for the Department of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Office of Federal Contract Compliance. She also managed, reviewed, and revised policies related to the company’s business.
Previously, she clerked for a Maryland Circuit Court Judge and externed for a U.S. District Court Judge. She also spent four years as a program financial analyst for a large defense contractor and a large consulting firm.
Samantha received her JD from American University, Washington College of Law, where she graduated cum laude and was a member of the Sustainable Development Law & Policy journal. She has a BA in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland. She is a member of the Maryland Bar and is Corporate Counsel-certified in Virginia.
