Kristine Curl is a Director with Treliant. She assists financial institutions of all sizes with regulatory compliance initiatives by establishing robust compliance programs; performing compliance reviews in Deposits, Lending, and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML); as well as developing and conducting board, executive, and staff level regulatory training programs.
At Treliant, Kristy has developed and conducted several independent testing and audit programs for a $2 billion and a $16 billion regional, multi-bank holding company, a pay-day lender, and a top 20 financial institution. These audit programs include specific regulatory requirements such as Consumer Lending, Real Estate Lending, Credit Card Lending, Private Education Lending, BSA/AML, Regulation E, SCRA, and other lending and deposit products and services. Conducting this compliance testing includes building a work program, performing transaction testing, compiling work papers, and issuing a report detailing any deficiencies, root causes, and recommendations for corrective action.
Kristy has been a project lead and subject matter expert for a Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) lookback project involving 70+ professionals and 65,000 files, including training, database development, quality control monitoring, coordination of data delivery from the client, and communication with all parties to the project. She was a key advisor to an $8 billion dollar financial institution and managed a team of nine reviewers that cleared a backlog of automated transaction monitoring alerts by preparing narratives supporting the decision to further investigate for Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filing purposes or to close as non-suspicious. She has written CMS policies and procedures for non-bank lenders and for financial institutions of various sizes. She has also served in Compliance Officer and staff augmentation roles building CMS Programs, conducting compliance and operational risk assessments, and providing compliance support to all business lines impacted by regulations for a Top 20 financial institution and two $20 billion dollar regional banks.
Prior to joining Treliant, Kristy worked for a national financial compliance, operations, and management consulting firm in Texas and a regional accounting firm in Colorado. She has served as a virtual Compliance Officer for multiple community banks and has worked on several specialty compliance projects such as AML/BSA lookbacks under regulatory supervision; large file reviews; resolution of remediation issues; implementation of new regulatory requirements; and advising a core processor technology company on regulatory requirements, business needs, and functional specifications.
Kristy has a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Colorado. She is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
