Howard Eisenhardt
Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel
Howard Eisenhardt is Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of Treliant, where he advises the firm and its members on all legal affairs, contracts, vendor management, conflicts, ethics, governance, and operations. Howard has over 25 years of experience representing financial institutions, both as in-house and outside counsel. Prior to joining Treliant, Howard served as Counsel in BuckleySandler’s Washington, DC, office, advising clients on consumer financial services issues, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management – specifically with regard to retail banking, data security and privacy laws, deposit and consumer loan products, Automated Clearing House (ACH), money transmission, consumer privacy, information security, and other consumer compliance issues. Howard is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and has devoted a significant amount of his practice to advising clients on Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/ Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations and compliance.
Prior to joining BuckleySandler, Howard was the Director of Privacy at Key Bank, NA, where he provided support to all business lines and affiliates to ensure policy and procedural adherence, as well as compliance with applicable state and federal privacy laws and regulations. Howard was also the Chief Privacy Officer at Charter One Bank, NA, and was instrumental in the design, implementation, and oversight of the bank’s consumer privacy and information security programs. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP). At Charter One Bank, Howard served as Chief Corporate Counsel and Director of Legal Operations, leading the legal department and managing all corporate litigation. He also provided counsel and guidance to business lines, affiliates, and other support areas of the bank, including operations, information technology, bank security, and human resources in the multitude of legal and compliance matters affecting day-to-day banking operations.
Howard received his JD from Capital University Law School, Capital Law Review, and his BA from Dickinson College. He is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and the states of Maryland and Ohio.
