Gale Blackstock
Director
Gale Blackstock is a Director with Treliant. She is a regulatory compliance and audit professional with over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Gale worked most of her career at large and mid-sized financial institutions as Senior Vice President in Corporate Compliance and Senior Director in Internal Audit.
Before joining Treliant, Gale was Senior Vice President and Director of Compliance for a mid-sized bank. There, she was responsible for building the Compliance Management System (CMS), including partnering with the first-line-of-defense executives to ensure all areas of the bank were involved.
As Senior Director of Internal Audit at a large financial institution, Gale was responsible for integrating compliance audits with other operational and financial audits to maximize the efficient use of resources. Previously, she served as the bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Officer and Fair Banking Manager, and she was responsible for the reporting of Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data.
Gale also founded and managed Braasch and Blackstock, LLC, a financial services compliance consulting firm, providing broad-spectrum bank compliance services to over 40 financial institutions throughout the Southeastern U.S. Her firm developed the CMS for several small and de novo banks, including mentoring individuals to become compliance officers. In addition, the firm was responsible for developing and providing Fair Lending and Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) training to boards and employees of financial institutions, as required under consent orders with the U.S. Department of Justice. Other firm engagements included the design and performance of risk assessments and related analyses of data for fair lending for multiple institutions, as well as assistance in developing key risk indicators to help banks assess and manage their compliance risks.
She has been active in industry forums, such as the American Bankers Association (ABA) and the Consumer Bankers Association (CBA), where she served as a member of both the Fair and Responsible Banking Committee and the Complaint Subcommittee.
Gale has a BA in Communications from the University of Alabama, and she is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM).
