Overview: We’re nearly six months into the global COVID-19 pandemic, and as the gaming industry continues to slowly rebuild after unprecedented shutdowns, many operational and organizational shifts have occurred to enable remote work, more cashless payment options and enhanced social distancing and personal safety measures. As the pandemic stretches on, and business continues in the “new normal”, reassessing existing and emerging data privacy and cyber security risks and challenges is more important than ever. This panel of data privacy and cyber security experts will first explore CCPA, GDPR and the gaming industry, analyzing first the related general compliance obligations of each set of requirements. Next, they’ll evaluate existing and new risks posed by international and third-party data transfers, especially where they intersect with a growing number of payment options and providers. Finally, they’ll discuss current and emerging cyber and data protection best practices that companies should stay on top of to ensure they are adequately protecting their company’s interests.
