Jason P. Boova
Engagement Director
Jason Boova is an Engagement Director with Treliant Risk Advisors. He is a former financial institution examiner, specializing in providing clients with valuable insight regarding consumer compliance programs, laws, and regulations, specifically with respect to Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP) and fair lending, as well as Anti-Money Laundering/Bank Secrecy Act (AML/BSA) compliance and program guidance. Jason specializes in both assessing and building compliance programs for clients, with extensive experience doing so in the financial technology (FinTech) space, working with online marketplace and alternative lenders.

At Treliant, Jason has led and participated in engagements with clients of varying asset sizes from Top 5 banks to startup companies. His work has included implementing and assessing regulatory compliance, AML/BSA, and risk management programs; developing and implementing regulatory compliance and AML risk assessment methodologies across various enterprises, lines of business, and products; reviewing, building, and assessing complaint management programs, in addition to leading a team functioning as the central complaint monitoring function for a Top 5 bank; creating and delivering training content regarding applicable federal regulations; and leading a team that developed and implemented a control process for a client by reviewing marketing materials for compliance with consumer protection laws and regulations.

Prior to joining Treliant, Jason was a financial institutions examiner with both the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). He examined and assessed the safety and soundness of thrift institutions and national banks of varying asset sizes. His examination assessment work included working in capital, asset quality, management analysis, earnings, liquidity, and sensitivity to interest rate risk, in addition to focusing on consumer protection laws and regulations and AML/BSA programs. Jason’s examination experience includes leading major areas of review, in addition to acting as the examiner-in-charge of both examinations of institutions and examinations of their respective holding companies. As the examiner-in-charge, he was responsible for presenting examination findings and regulatory ratings to senior management and boards of directors.
 
Jason holds an MA in Economics from Cleveland State University and a BS in Business from Miami University (Ohio).
