Washington, DC – February 13, 2017 – Treliant Risk Advisors is pleased to announce that Erin E. DeWitt, Mark E. Kallal, and Kevin B. Thomas have joined the firm, bringing extensive experience across a range of compliance, anti-money laundering, operational, and governance matters concerning financial services clients. Erin joins as Director from Scottrade Financial Services, where she served as Chief Risk Officer. Mark joins as Director from Intersections Inc., an identity risk management company, where he was Vice President, Compliance. Kevin joins as Senior Manager from EagleBank where he served as Director of Internal Audit.

Erin DeWitt is a seasoned financial services professional with experience across a broad range of banking concerns, including regulatory, consumer, and financial compliance; Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML); risk management and controls; corporate governance; credit risk management; regulatory relations; and enforcement action compliance. She has applied her strategic acumen in these areas to brokerage operations, commercial loan portfolios, troubled loan portfolios, and special assets. As the Chief Risk Officer for Scottrade Financial Services, she managed global enterprise risk management, compliance, BSA/AML, fraud, data governance, and regulatory relations. She has also served as a Senior Director at Capital One and a Bank Examiner within the Federal Reserve System.

Mark Kallal is a financial services professional with more than 20 years of experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, and specialty lending. He has held senior positions with financial services companies of varying sizes – from Capital One and Freddie Mac, to a startup student lending company and a provider of credit monitoring. His work has included implementing and assessing compliance and risk management programs for business lines and products, consumer complaint programs, and third-party management. He has also developed related employee training and managed regulatory relations. 

Kevin Thomas, in his most recent role as EagleBank’s Director of Internal Audit, oversaw every aspect of internal audit, engaged with regulatory agencies, and advised bank boards and executive management on creating, implementing, and monitoring controls to ensure effective regulatory strategies, policies, and plans to address current and emerging risks. He has also managed the enterprise-wide compliance program of a smaller institution as its Compliance Officer, Director of Internal Audit, and BSA Officer. Throughout his career as a bank executive and consultant, he has performed assessments of corporate and regulatory compliance, sanctions and fraud programs, and internal controls, with particular strength in ensuring adherence to the BSA/AML requirements of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
