Senior Director
Alex Kangelaris, a Senior Director of Treliant Risk Advisors, is a seasoned executive with mortgage industry, capital markets, and operations experience in Fortune 500 companies, financial industry advisory firms, and regulatory organizations. Alex‘s long track record in mortgage finance and capital markets includes securitization, securities trading, and middle- and back-office activities. He also has deep knowledge of a wide array of financial products, including over-the-counter (OTC) and exchange-traded derivatives as well as various mortgage-backed instruments and other structured securities.
Over the past 25 years, Alex has held executive level positions at Freddie Mac as well as founding a financial industry risk and compliance consulting practice. Alex has advised numerous financial industry firms including commercial banks, securities dealers, investment banks, and securities clearing organizations on matters including enterprise risk, market and interest rate risk, liquidity and capital planning, and operational risk management.
Alex has advised regulatory organizations as well as mortgage industry-linked government agencies. In these capacities, he has contributed to industry studies affecting broker-dealers, conducted risk assessments of broker-dealer operations, and evaluated regulatory reporting controls and compliance practices. He has also conducted assessments of broker-dealer pricing/mark to market activities and associated infrastructure, including information systems and internal controls; has advised the Financial Institution Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on broker-dealer enforcement matters; and has served as subject matter expert on thematic examinations related to OTC derivatives operations.
Alex holds an MBA in Finance and Investments from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Maine.
